On the 13th of February, the Privacy Amendment (Notifiable Data Breaches) Bill 2016 was passed through the Australian Senate and will become law within 12 months.
Australian businesses (with some exceptions), with a minimum turn-over of 3 million a year will be compelled to notify the privacy commissioner and their customers of any serious data breach or face a fine of up to $360,000 for individuals or $1.8 million for businesses.
What does this mean to you, your business, and your customers? Manage Protect will be presenting a series of events with Dudley Kneller, Technology Partner at Madgwicks Lawyers to discuss the question, the risks, and the opportunities around the new law.
These events will be scheduled for March/April in both Sydney & Melbourne. We will also schedule a national webinar for those who are not able to attend the Sydney & Melbourne events.
