Navigating Microsoft’s CSP to NCE Migration

Navigation of NCE Migration

In the ever-evolving landscape of cloud solutions, Microsoft is charting a new course. As a valued CSP reseller partner, it’s crucial for you to be informed about the upcoming changes that will reshape how you manage your customers’ subscriptions effectively.

The Roadmap and Timeline

Microsoft has set January 11th, 2024, as the date when the automatic migration of renewing legacy commercial seat-based subscriptions to (New Commerce Experience) NCE will kick off.

This transition specifically targets legacy commercial subscriptions, marking a significant step toward retiring the CSP legacy commerce platform.

In preparation for these changes, Microsoft has also announced that from this November 28th, both the new NCE Billing Overview and Report Download pages will be generally available to all global partners who are transacting with the new commerce products.

The Nuts and Bolts of The Update

If you’re a Manage Protect partner, you have two options:

  1. Do nothing and we will convert your customers legacy CSP to the equivalent NCE monthly licence on the 1st of the month they are expected to expire. Providing you with the flexibility to change your licensing options at any time.
  2. If you’d prefer, we can also convert your legacy CSP into annual licences which provide a greater discount but with a annual commitment and upfront costs. For this option please contact your partner manger and we will organise the rest for you.

For context, if Microsoft customers do nothing, they are automatically moved onto the annual licences as standard on their renewal date.

Preparing for Change

As MSP partners approach this pivotal phase, it’s essential to prepare and plan for the transition:

• Firstly, inform your users about the change and ensure they’re aware of the necessary adaptations to find related billing information.
• Secondly, engage in discussions with customers about their preferences for Monthly vs. Annual subscriptions or a preferred ratio between the two.
• Lastly, review your customer contracts and align these with the preferred approach and terms to ensure a seamless transition.

Stay Informed, Stay Connected
